The last book written by actress Carrie Fisher, published just after her death in December 2016. As the title indicates, the book revolves diaries she wrote while filming Star Wars. Most notably, it is in this book that Fisher reveals that she and Harrison Ford, the famous actor who played Han Solo in the films, did in fact have an affair during the filming of the first movie, A New Hope.
It is a deeply personal yet casual book, as if you were having a conversation with Fisher. Also included in the book are 60 pages of Fisher’s diary.
I found the book hard to read, as Fisher mentioned her possible death several times and in light of her actual death, it feels a little morbid. In the acknowledgements section, she wrote to her mother, mentioning Reynolds’ health scare and scolding her, “don’t even THINK about doing it again in any form. I’m sure wherever they are now, the mother and daughter pair had a strong conversation about the timing of Reynolds’ death.
